Terms of Use
These terms govern the Sisu app. They are a draft for product and store use. Have counsel review them before a public payments launch. They are not legal advice.
The service
Sisu lets friend groups set goals, upload proof, vote pass or fail, and optionally attach a money stake. On a fail, we instruct Stripe to charge the goal owner’s saved payment method and transfer shares to other members’ Stripe Connect accounts.
Sisu is a facilitator, not a bank, escrow, or custodian. We do not hold your stake as a stored balance you can withdraw from us. Payouts go through Stripe to members who completed Connect onboarding.
Squads and trust
You use Sisu with people you choose. Votes, proofs, and stakes are agreements between squad members. We do not referee whether someone “really” completed a goal, and we do not unwind a vote because someone is unhappy with the outcome.
Payments: no Sisu refunds
Sisu does not offer refunds, charge reversals, or dispute handling inside the app. If your squad voted fail and the charge succeeded, that is the intended product behaviour.
- Do not join a money-stake squad unless you trust the other members and accept that a fail can charge your card.
- We will not add an in-app “refund this stake” or “appeal this vote” flow.
- Card networks can still process a chargeback if a cardholder files one with their bank. That process is outside Sisu. It may debit our Stripe platform account. We may reverse the matching Connect transfers so paid members do not keep funds from a reversed charge. That is operational recovery, not a customer refund desk.
- Nothing in these terms limits rights you cannot contract out of under Australian law. If a non-excludable guarantee applies to our app service, it applies. Peer stakes among friends are not a retail “return the goods” counter.
Your responsibilities
- Keep your login safe. Do not share invite codes with people you do not trust.
- Only upload proof photos you have the right to share with your squad.
- Complete payout setup if you want to receive fail splits. Keep a valid payment method if you create monetary goals.
- Settle any unpaid fail stake before deleting your account.
Acceptable use
Do not use Sisu to harass others, launder money, evade sanctions, or run a business that needs a financial licence you do not have. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service (spam, fraud, payment abuse).
Accounts
You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) or via the deletion page. See the privacy policy for what we erase versus payment records we retain.
Limitation
To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for squad disagreements, votes you dislike, missed payouts caused by a member who never finished Connect setup, or bank chargebacks initiated by a member. We are not responsible for Stripe outages beyond using their platform as documented.
